Most people enjoy giving of themselves, but did you know it is scientifically proven to be beneficial to your life? Living better by helping often! Come out to our next assembly on October 18 (on the third Sunday just this time) and learn about why we should give of ourselves more regularly.

Steve Kurtaugh will be speaking about what he has learned from his work at Ano Nuevo and other volunteer causes. We have childcare and fun activities for the kids and a thriving community. Join us!

In the spirit of helping often, Sejal H Patel will speak on The Distance Between Us and Justice.

How far away are we from justice?

That question carries many meanings. We can think about time. How much time it will take before events like wrongful convictions and civil rights violations won't happen anymore? We can think about distance.

Life here in Silicon Valley is geographically far away from places like Selma, Baltimore, and Charleston. We can feel grateful, guilty perhaps but grateful, that what we are reading about in the news is not happening to us. We care about injustice, but we can't do much about it.

Or can we? This talk will explore our proximity to justice - how close we are to it, and what we can do to resist what has been a stubborn undercurrent of our democracy since its inception.

SCIENCE BLIND - June 10 Assembly

It is hard to ignore the changes in our world, despite the best attempts of our leaders to sweep it under the rug. Join us for Discussing Tough Topics with Tact. Brad Hoge from the National Center for Science Education will explore ways to talk to family and friends about climate change and evolution.

To do your heart good, we'll have pop songs, readings, and socializing. Come and help us inspire each other–to live better, help often, and wonder more.

EXPLORE - July 8 Assembly

Summer is here and it is time to get inspired with the spirit of exploration and adventure. Bex and Gil are full-time adventure bloggers who are kick-scooting the entire length of the west coast–from Canada to Mexico! They are no strangers to adventure, having sailed the North Sea and hiked the length of Israel, and they hope that this "Kicking the States" expedition will raise $10,000 to build a school in Tanzania. GOING HOME - Oct 9 Assembly

Let's explore the issue of homelessness here in Silicon Valley together and see how we can help. Our guest is Jim Gardner from Good Karma Bikes. Learn about how their Transportation for Transformation program is helping homeless and very low income workers to be mobile again, a basic liberty that each of us takes for granted.

Doors open at 10:30am for coffee and snacks, and at 11:00am on the dot we will have great talks, live music and secular celebration. Stick around afterward for food.

We will be collecting coats. Please bring any new or gently-used warm jackets or coats.

Equality. What does that word really mean to you? We have seen love win in the Supreme Court, but has hate really lost? Charleston was a poignant reminder that communities remain divided. Because we are a secular congregation, Sunday Assembly Silicon Valley can bring all types of people together to live better, help often, and wonder more.
