What is Sunday Assembly?

Sunday Assembly is a secular congregation that celebrates life. There are many Sunday Assembly chapters worldwide.

The Why

Our motto: Live Better, Help Often, Wonder More.

Our mission: to create a community of thoughtful, confident, generous, curious people without appealing to any higher power except our common humanity.

The What

We are here for everyone who wants to:

  • Live Better. We aim to provide inspiring, thought-provoking and practical ideas that help people to live the lives they want to lead and be the people they want to be.

  • Help Often. We support one another, and look for opportunities to help those around us who need it.

  • Wonder More. Hearing insightful talks, singing as one, listening to readings, sharing personal stories and even playing games all help us to connect with each other and the awesome world we live in.

The How

Our Sunday morning assemblies are held once a month, on the second Sunday. Here are some that you can view. You can expect to hear an inspiring talk, join in singing (and even dancing) a few popular songs, listen to a life experience from a fellow member, enjoy a few moments of reflection, and meet lots of interesting people over coffee and snacks and maybe a shared lunch. We also provide supervised activities for the kids. No matter what the subject of the Assembly, it will calm your worries, refresh your spirits, provoke kindness, and maybe even inject a touch of transcendence into the everyday.

Sunday Assembly is more than just a Sunday event. It is a living, active community. There are lots of opportunities to get together throughout the month. We have (pre-pandemic) many volunteer opportunities, to do everything from picking fruit for the hungry, to planting trees, to serving food to the homeless ... or whatever community service event you can persuade your fellow members to join in on. We also have purely social events, which have included small groups for beer tasting, dining out, reading books, playing trivia games, and "reading between the wines".

Most of all, people come to Sunday Assembly to have fun, be kind to each other and join in.

Who?

(Yes, some of us are fans of The Who, but ...)

We welcome all who welcome all, without regard to age, sex, gender, color, citizenship, sexual orientation, creed (but please avoid proselytizing), or various other criteria we may have forgotten to mention, except that we do require vaccination(s) and mask. We don't sell tickets -- just sign in. We want Sunday Assembly to be a house of love and compassion, where, no matter what your situation, you are welcomed, accepted and loved.
